This is just to say

Imagist poem by William Carlos Williams, written in 1934. One of my absolute favourite’s because of its ingenious simplicity. A slice of life that we all recognise and that pisses us all off. Because we had been looking forward to that delicious snack all day. Like literally, all day.

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

William Carlos Williams
